Every Saturday at 12:00 noon we proudly host a Dungeons & Dragons
4th Edition adventure that takes place in the Living Forgotten
Realms RPGA campaign setting.
What is the RPGA?
The Roleplaying Game Association, or RPGA, is a support network for the Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition game system. The RPGA is 100% free to join and play in, and offers exclusive D&D Rewards to all members. You can join the RPGA absolutely free at any of our Saturday Living Forgotten Realms events.
I've heard of the Forgotten Realms. So what's this Living Forgotten Realms all about?
The term "Living" is used by the RPGA to identify a shared campaign world. That means that the Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition character you make to play in our Saturday LFR events can be used by you anywhere in the world where LFR events are offered. You can take your character to conventions, other retail locations, or even to home games, and all benefits you earn for your character are valid anywhere else you play him or her. Think of it as a massively multiplayer tabletop roleplaying game!
Do I have to pay money to play in these events?
No. We never charge an entry fee for our regular Saturday Living Forgotten Realms events. The only requirement is you must have your own copy of the Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition Player's Handbook with you at the table. You don't have to buy it from us, but you must have one with you in order to play.
How long does an adventure take?
We try to allow for about four hours of play for a single session. Each RPGA Living Forgotten Realms adventure is meant to be completed in one session. That means you can show up any time you want, and take some weeks off without missing out on any action.
Do I use my own character, or am I assigned one?
You create your own character using the Living Forgotten Realms Character Creation Guidelines and the Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition Player's Handbook, and your character will grow in level and power over time as you play him or her. If you use your character for LFR adventures at conventions or other locations, all experience, money and magic items that you earn there are yours to keep and use anywhere else you play that character!
Can I just show up at noon on Saturday and start playing with you guys?
Unfortunately it's not that simple. If you are already familiar with how the RPGA works, and you have a complete and legal D&D character that adheres to the RPGA Living Forgotten Realms Character Creation Guidelines, then you can probably just show up and probably get a seat. If you have never played an RPGA event, and you don't have a complete and legal character you should contact a store employee at least a couple of days in advance so we can help get you ready. Also, Dungeons & Dragons is a game that requires personnel resources to pull off. We have to have a sufficient number of Dungeon Masters who are prepared to run a table of players, and each table must accommodate 4-6 players. This can be quite a juggling act, and there may be times when a new player must be temporarily turned away because we weren't expecting him or her. If you haven't been playing with us regularly on Saturday afternoons, it is best to contact a store employee a couple of days in advance to increase the likelihood that will have the correct number of Dungeon Masters ready for all the players.
Dungeon Masters Needed!
If you'd like to take a shot at running some Living Forgotten Realms adventures at the store, let us know! We're always looking for new Dungeon Masters to add in to the rotation. In order to act as a Dungeon Master, you will need to own your own copies of the Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, and Monster Manual.
All Dungeon Masters earn $20 in store credit for each Living Forgotten Realms adventure they run at the store during our approved D&D game night. The store will provide each Dungeon Master with a complete adventure module that contains all of the information the he or she needs to run it. All DMs are expected to completely read the adventure module, and be thoroughly familiar with its contents in order to qualify for the store credit.
